Get to know our lovely Members in this new monthly feature. If enough people want to take part, maybe it’ll become Member of the Week! This month, we’re talking to Jo Gleeson.

Jo joined the EAT for our production of The Revlon Girl in 2024, playing Sian.In the photo below, Sian is mopping up the damage from a leak in the ceiling (if only we’d known then what we know now …).  Since then, she has appeared in our radio play adaptation of War of the Worlds and this season can be seen in Deathtrap in the role of Myra and in The Flint Street Nativity, playing Gabriel.

What’s your favourite thing about the EAT?
Jo: The connection you make with your fellow cast and crew members.

Who is your favourite actor?
.Julie Walters. In her films, programmes and sketches she can play such a range of characters, from hilarious to emotional or combine them all together perfectly! My favourite is Rita from Educating Rita.

Can you recommend something you love?
I love Derry Girls, a programme on Channel 4 about four teenage girls who attend a Catholic girls’ school towards the end of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. They are far from ‘nun material’ It’s funny and poignant all in one. The girls remind me of those in Once a Catholic, a play I have been in.  

What do you get up to away from the theatre?
My husband and I have three children, Aoife 14, Orla 12 and Cillian 9. So I get up to whatever they are up to! Aoife and Cillian play Rugby for Dartfordians so we spend our Sundays down at the club- cheering that is, not in the scrum!! Orla does ballet, no mud for her!

Why should people come along to the EAT?
You get to see amazing West End standard productions that aren’t a hassle to get to; every seat is a good one and it doesn’t cost you loads to come and see some wonderful actors getting to do what they love doing! Excellent directors, set, lighting, sound, stage managers, costumes, props, a brilliant bar and amazing audiences! And, if you want to, you can be a can be a part of it all as well.
