Each year we produce up to six plays (and an occasional musical!), including classic dramas and comedies, new releases and popular screen to stage adaptations. We aim to ensure that there is something to appeal to everyone, whether you want to bring your vision to life as a director, appear on stage or come along to enjoy a show as part of the audience. Directing If you are an experienced director (amateur or professional!) and have an idea for a play that you think would be a good fit for the EAT, we'd love to hear from you. We are always keen to welcome new talent to the theatre and most seasons will see a new face directing. You'll be fully supported by our experienced team, who have all the directing and technical experience you need to stage your production. And if you've never directed before but fancy having a go, why not shadow or assist one of our directors? They'll share their experience and give you an introduction to the process. So, if this sounds like something you'd be interested in, contact us at productions@edwardalderton.org for an informal chat! Auditions Auditions for the EAT’s season of plays are open to everyone. We will publicise details on our website and social media, as well as sending to our mailing list. Whether you’re a seasoned actor or if it’s your first time, we aim to make our auditions an enjoyable rather than a nerve wracking experience! You’ll be performing a selected section of the script for the play’s Director (and Music Director if applicable), reading alongside other auditionees or readers who have come along to help on the day. No experience is necessary. Although we will ask you to let us know if you have performed on stage before, casting is based entirely on merit and not what you’ve done in the past. Audition pieces will be available in advance so that you can prepare. Our directors are happy to speak to anybody who has questions about the play or the audition process – you can phone them or send an email. Alternatively, you are welcome to just come along on the day and have a go!
