The Edward Alderton Theatre is a non-professional theatre in the heart of Bexleyheath. It has an auditorium with capacity for 74 people in fixed, tiered seating and a proscenium stage (traditional set up with an arch surrounding the stage space). It has high quality sound, lighting and projection equipment. We present a mixed programme of productions in a season that runs from October to July – usually staging six plays (and the occasional musical). In recent years we have presented classic comedies and dramas, small-scale musicals, radio plays, modern pieces and screen to stage adaptations. We aim to provide something for everyone, whether you want to act on stage, direct, work behind the scenes or front of house, or enjoy our productions from the audience. In this section, you can find out about the theatre's history, our Youth Theatre Company (new for September 2025!) and the team responsible for making sure that our audiences are safe, welcome and thoroughly entertained.
