Although the EAT is a small theatre, we deal with the same issues you’d get at any arts venue in the UK, So, we rely on our members and supporters to volunteer their expertise to help us plan and deliver our season of plays, as well as ensuring that the theatre is a safe and welcoming place to visit. So, if you’re an experienced professional with some time on your hands, or just starting out in your chosen career and looking to develop some skills to jazz up your CV, we may well have the perfect opportunity for you. Building and Project Management We are responsible for the upkeep of our building and that has its challenges. From day-to-day maintenance to project managing major improvement projects, we’d welcome volunteers with a background in building or project management. We currently have a vacancy on our Management Committee for a Building and Project Manager. You’d be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the premises, co-ordination of any major projects associated with the building, liaison with contractors and others. You’d need to be local to the theatre and have the time available to meet with contractors etc. during the day, an understanding of buildings and the ability to identify issues, plan and co-ordinate appropriate action. If you don’t have the time to take on the full management role, we’d still love to hear from you if you think you’d be able to help out. To find out more, contact Lindsay Dale at chair@edwardalderton.org Grants and Funding Running a theatre is expensive, but there are plenty of grants and funding opportunities out there that would help us to improve the facilities we offer and enable us to make investments that will allow us to stage more ambitious productions. If you have any experience of grant applications – from writing submissions to judging them – you could make a huge contribution to the theatre by giving up a little bit of your time to advise or help with the process. Design Once we’ve decided on a season of great plays, we also need some great posters to help us promote and sell the shows. Do you have the vision and design skills to create engaging posters and visuals for the theatre and our productions? We’ll provide the words but can you bring it all to life with memorable artwork and graphics that will see your fully credited work used on posters, programmes and social media content.
