The Edward Alderton Theatre (EAT) is a non-professional theatre company run entirely by volunteers. Anybody aged over 18 is welcome to join us, whether you want to act on stage, direct, or join one of our creative backstage teams, designing and building sets, looking after sound and/or lighting, costumes or props. We also need friendly volunteers to work Front of House, running the bar or box office on performance nights and welcoming people to the theatre. Or maybe you’d like to get involved in the general running of the theatre – as a member of our Management Committee or in one of the many supporting roles that keeps the theatre open. From marketing to membership, ticket bookings to building management – we need YOU! Or, you can support us by coming along to see our productions, bringing friends and generally spreading the word about your local theatre. Every Wednesday we have a social evening in the bar – everybody is welcome. If you’re not a member (yet!), come down and have a chat with the team and find out more about what we do.

The Edward Alderton Theatre aims to produce performances of the highest possible standard in an environment that is safe and enjoyable for audiences and those involved in the theatre. To this end we expect our members and visitors to treat each other, our property and our neighbours with respect. This applies in person and online. The EAT is run completely by volunteers. We take their safety and wellbeing very seriously. Any verbal or physical abuse towards our volunteers will not be tolerated. Our volunteers represent the EAT. Under no circumstances should a volunteer present themselves for duties if they are under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or any substance that impairs their judgement or ability to perform their role safely. Any volunteer suspected of being under the influence will be immediately relieved of their duties and asked to leave the premises for their own safety and that of others.
