The Edward Alderton Theatre has an auditorium with capacity for 74 people in fixed, raked seating and a proscenium stage (traditional set up with an arch surrounding the stage space). Our stage is approximately 8m wide and 4m deep. There are hand pulled house curtains. Our flats are all 2ft x 10ft and 1ft x 10ft and bolt together. We additionally have door and window flats. We have two dressing rooms that can easily accommodate small to medium casts. The Front of House area contains our Box Office and fully licensed bar which opens half an hour before each performance. Access We regret that the theatre is not currently fully accessible. There is disabled access to the auditorium via a rear door and capacity for one wheelchair. But our toilets are not currently accessible. Improving access throughout the building is a top priority for us. Technical Information The theatre has high quality sound, lighting and projection equipment – upgraded during the summer of 2024. We have a FLX S48 Lighting console and a standard lighting rig consisting of mainly incandescent lanterns with a few LED parcans capable of providing a colour wash on stage and Stairville WildWash LED flood lights for back wall colour and effects.

Our sound system allows sound to be played from any combination of 2 speakers off stage at the rear of the stage or 2 speakers at the front of the auditorium. We use SCS (show cue system) software running on a laptop pc. We have a short throw projector for images on the back wall (depending on the colour of the wall). Images still or video can be programmed into SCS with the sound.
