Wardrobe Our team plays a huge part in bringing productions to the stage – working with directors and actors to create the characters our audiences see. A typical season will involve productions that just call for modern dress whilst others need to recreate periods in history taking us from Ancient Greece to Victorian London. And sometimes they’ll be called upon to bring a beloved screen character to life on stage, including their iconic wardrobe! We have a good variety of costumes in our store but will always need to find a few more for most productions, whether that’s making them, contacting other local theatres to hire or scouring charity shops for something suitable! So, do you fancy getting creative with designing, making and sourcing costumes? Are you handy with a sewing machine? You don’t have to be (but it does help!). Props Props are an equally important part of our productions – and again, we do have a good props store. But every production is different, and our talented team find themselves called upon to dig out some weird and wonderful things to be used on stage. Whether it’s a 1960s vintage make up case or a mechanical talking parrot (!), it’s a fun challenge for anyone who likes to get creative! The team will make props, find them in charity shops or at antiques fayres or borrow from other theatres. You’ll be given a list by the play’s director of general and personal props needed for their production and then the hunt begins!
