Directors Wanted for our 2026-27 Season

Now that our 50th Anniversary Season is successfully launched and mostly cast (auditions for Blood Brothers (play version) are in October – find out more here), it’s time to start planning for the following year. We are now taking submissions for plays to be staged at the EAT from October 2026 to July 2027.

We’re looking to programme a season of plays that will offer something for everyone – with an emphasis on “crowd pleasers” that will be popular with our audiences. Anything from a classic drama to laugh-out-loud comedy!

We would like to hear from potential Directors, whether you have worked at the EAT before or are interested in coming to us for the first time. All of our Directors are fully supported by the theatre’s Management Committee. If it’s your first time at the theatre, an experienced director will act as your mentor to help you navigate the production process. If you’re new to the EAT, you can read a little bit more about our facilities here.

So, if you have an idea for a play that you would like to direct for us, please get in touch. You will need to provide a hard copy or digital version of the play’s script and we will ask you to explain a little of your vision for the play and its technical requirements.

If you’d just like to suggest a play, you can do that too. Find out more here.

Applications to direct in the 2026-27 season should be submitted by Tuesday 30th September 2026.
