Blood Brothers (Play version) By Willy Russell Direction: Mark Slaughter Musical Direction: Karen Crook 11th – 18th July 2026 About the Play: "So did you ever hear the tale of the Johnston twins? As like each other as two new pins Of one womb born, on the self same day, How one was kept and one given away? Blood Brothers is the compelling and moving story of twin boys who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet years later with devastating consequences. In common with his other works (Educating Rita, Shirley Valentine etc), here Willy Russell writes once again about class. The nature versus nurture debate falls under his spotlight as we witness the journey and life experiences of twins Mickey and Eddie; one raised in a crowded, working class, one-parent family, and the other in a middle-class home with the opportunities and comforts that brings. But above all, the play is about love in many forms - maternal, friendship, sibling and romantic. Moving yet often funny, Blood Brothers is a wonderful play which we will deliver in a powerful and vivid production to tell this story.
