Gala Performance Planned to Celebrate the EAT’s 50th Anniversary

At the end of our 50th anniversary season, we are delighted to announce that on Saturday 1st August 2026, we will be holding a Gala evening, to celebrate 50 years of the EAT and all things theatre!

Under the direction of Mattie Frieacre, we’ll be presenting an evening of songs and scenes, monologues and memories – a fabulous cabaret to showcase the talents of our members and the brilliance of live theatre.

It’s your opportunity to revisit an old favourite or perform something that you’re never likely to get the chance to do in a full production! We’re open to any and all suggestions. So, if you’ve always wanted to give your Macbeth, “Defy Gravity” as Elphaba from Wicked or recreate a classic Tommy Cooper sketch (just like that!), Mattie wants to hear from you!

Suggestions from any genre of music or theatre are welcome.

Mattie will be putting the programme together over the next few months and we’ll keep you updated via the website and newsletter. We hope to involve as many people as possible, but want to present an evening that has plenty of variety but also leaves us time to enjoy a drink in the bar afterwards, so sadly Penny has already been told that her “One Woman Hamilton” won’t be making the cut!

You don’t have to decide immediately what you’d like to do for the Gala, but to express an interest, whether you’d like to get up on stage or help out behind the scenes, contact Mattie at mattiefrieacre@cantab.net
