Writing for Theatre Workshop

Are you as creative as Coward? A modern-day Marlowe, Moliere or Miller? Or simply wild about Wilde?

We’re delighted to announce that the Edward Alderton Theatre will be hosting an introductory workshop on Writing for Theatre on Wednesday 11th March from 7-9pm.

This is a taster session ahead of a longer course that will be scheduled if there is enough interest.

The workshop offers a welcoming space in which to write, discuss and share work (sharing is optional!). Beginners are welcome. It’s suitable for all abilities and experience levels – whether you’ve already written a script or story, whether you have always wondered how to take those first steps towards bringing your ideas to the page and stage or if you’ve never tried creative writing before but think it sounds interesting.

The workshop will run for two hours (including a comfort break).

If you are going to come along, bring a notebook and pen (or a device to type on/speak into).

We ask that all participants make a £5 donation to the EAT, payable on the night in cash or by card.

Spaces are limited to ten people (aged 18+).

To book a place at the workshop, send an email to edwardaldertontheatre@gmail.com with your name and contact phone number and any questions you may have about the workshop. The closing date for booking is Friday 27th February 2026.

The session will be run by Anna Connolly Quirós and Cherie Pruden. Anna and Cherie are experienced writers and theatre-makers with a passion for developing new work. They also collaborate with, write and direct for The Mama Quilla initiative, which is founded and led by Kay Adshead. They are excited to support and contribute to the EAT, their local theatre.
