Review
Susan goes down a storm
With his third marriage on the rocks and his secretary acting like a lovesick teenager, the last thing Jason Spencer wants is another female causing problems. He moves to a new flat for independence but, within hours, a suicidal girl turns up at his door seeking consolation. This is the opening scenario for Michael Pertwee's comedy Do Not Disturb, at the Edward Alderton Theatre, Bexleyheath, this week.
Tony Donnelly gives a stylish portrayal of the ageing Romeo but he has a tough time competing with the performance by Susan Coral Hampton as his visitor. Her natural ability and refreshingly extrovert approach generate an element of spontaneity which is sadly lacking elsewhere in the cast. Spencer's first wife (Jenny Devonshire), his third wife (Jean Sharp) and his secretary (Stephanie Dungate) were never totally convincing. Do Not Disturb continues until this Saturday.
